The theme: How green you are!
The aims:
- To give information about ecological problems in Kazakhstan.
- To teach children how to improve ecology in our city.
- To teach children to learn how to become environment educated people.
- To bring up love to the nature, to protect the nature.
- To encourage pupils in dialogue and express their opinions, to solve the problems.
- To enrich pupils’ vocabulary, to develop reading, speaking, listening activities, memory and mental activities.
Visual aids: a placard, pictures, cards, tape.
The procedure of the lesson.
I. Organization moment.
1. Dialogue with the pupil on duty.
2. Teacher acquaints the pupils with the main task of the lesson.
II. Checking up the home task.
Ex 9. To read and practice the dialogue.
Ex 10. Giving cards. Finding good advice for each problem.
III. Warm up.
1. Do you usually go to the doctor when you have a headache?
2. What should you do for a cough?
3. What home remedy do you know for a burn?
IV. Explanation of the new material.
Children, today we are going to speak about ecological problem. Pollution deprives people of fresh air, clear water and healthy food. This problem is widely discussed in the newspapers, radio and TV programs.
Ex 1
Children read environmentalist’s advice and put them in order of importance. If they think to save energy is the most important, put 1 next to it.
• Don’t throw away old newspaper. Give them a recycling company to make new paper.
• Don’t throw empty bottles. Take them to a bottle bank.
• Take a shower instead of bath. Baths use too much water.
• We use too much energy in the home. Learn to save energy.
• Don’t use an aerosol sprays, you can damage the atmosphere.
Ex 2
Working in pairs. Children compare their lists with partners. They ask why he/she chooses that order. Then children explain their own order.
Ex 3
First of all let’s work with the new words of the lesson. I’ll read you’ll listen to me (I’ll hang a placard on the blackboard).
Litter [‘litə] – n. қоқыс
Spoil [sp il] – v. бүлдіру, бұзу
View [vju:] – n. көрініс
Fine [fain] – n. айыппұл
Litterbug [‘litəb g] – n. ластаушы
Children guess the meaning of these words and write them in their vocabulary.
Reading the text by pupils loud.
Litter is a problem.
Litter is a food, paper and cans on the ground. People don’t always put their litter in the litter bin. Litter makes the place look dirty and spoils and view of the city.
Litter is a health problem. In brings illness. Some people want to control litter. They never throw litter them selves. In most cities the law punishes people who throw litter on the streets. They usually pay a fine. Don’t be a litterbug.
Then children make up their own sentences using the new words.

Matching the words with their meanings.

2. Litterbin b) To damage something so that it becomes useless
3. A fine c) Everything that a person can see
4. Spoil d) Garbage on the ground or in the street
5. A litterbug e) A special bin for litter

Children are divided into two groups and get the following task: Match the words with their meanings.
Ex 5
Children discuss the following questions.
1. Is litter a problem in your street?
2. Do most people in your street put their litter in the litter bin?
3. Does the law punish people who throw litter in the street?
4. Do those people pay a fine?
Riddles.
1. Here are some riddles for a fun. Try and guess

Reading the poem all together.
Who love the trees.

“I give them ripe fruit,

White Winter answered,

V. Giving homework.
Write a short paragraph giving advice to a friend who wants to know what he/she can do to help the environment.
Example:
Don’t throw glass bottles away.
Take them to a bottle bank.

VII. The end of the lesson.
Today we have talked about pollution nowadays: laud pollution, water pollution, air pollution. We should learn how to become environment educated people. We shouldn’t cut down trees around our houses; we should take care of living things.
Children! Our lesson is over. I am very pleased: you were very active at the lesson.
