Teacher: Dear teachers and pupils! Welcome to our party! Our today, s party is devoted to the world, s greatest poet and dramatist W. Shakespeare. Every Englishman knows more the works of his country, s greatest poet, The last half of the 16 - th century and the beginning of the 17 - th century are called the age of Shakespeare. Let s start our party.
1 pupil: W. Shakespeare, the greatest English poet and dramatist was born on the 23rd of April, 1564 in Stratford - on - Avon in England. His father, John Shakespeare was a man of some importance in Stratford. He was a glover who had an office in Stratford. His mother, Mary Arden was one of the eight daughters of Robert Arden, a rich farmer. They lived in a well - built house of stone which was two - storeyed. The house still standing, it is a museum now.
2 pupil: At the age of 7 William was sent to Stratford Grammar school where he studied for six years. In 1577 William, s father fell into deft and had to sell the larger part of his property. William was taken from school and for some time had to help his father in the trade. He never went to school again. He married A. Hathaway in 1582. And had 3 children, a boy and 2 girls. When he was about 21, he left for London where he had to go through many difficulties. There is a story that his first work in London was holding rich men, s horses at the theatre door. Later Shakespeare became an actor and soon he began to write lays for the company of actors to which he belonged. Many of his plays were acted in a London theatre called “The Globe”. Shakespeare wrote 37 plays and he is also known as the author of 2 poems and 157 sonnets.
1 pupil: Shakespeare spent the last years of his life in Stratford.
2 pupil: He was buried in the church of Stratford.
1 pupil: A monument was built to him in the poet, s corner in Westminister Abbey.
2 pupil: Shakespeare was a great humanist.
Teacher: Thank you pupils! Take your seats. W. Shakespeare had 3 children: Susannah, Hamnit and Judith. His wife was 8 years older than William. Shakespeare s daughter Susannah was born the next year after the marriage. William liked, his daughter very much. She was his favourite child. Unfortunately, he was not a good husband. In 1585 he went to London, leaving his wife and 3 children at home in Stratford.
The next play of our party is scene between Shakespeare and his wife before his departure.

William: Anne, my dear! I am going to live in London. I want to be an actor and to write plays.
His wife: Playing! Acting! All actors are dirty! Actors drink all day! You are mad, Will!
William: Don t be stupid, Anne! You are mistaken! You know, it is not true!
His wife: And what about our children? We have 3 small children. I see, you have forgotten about them.
William: Anne! I shall come home when I can! But now I must go to London. I want to be an actor and to write plays!
His wife: My God! My God!
William: Try to understand me, Anne. Stratford is too small, too slow, too boring me!
