search – to make a through examination or to look over carefully in order to find smth; to explore
search programme – the programme that helps to search for some information in the Internet.
3. Speaking. Express your agreement or disagreement. Work in group of 3 and 4.
Internet has become one of the most important facts of modern life. It is very much a part of the modern world. Its effects are felt all over the world. It has entered homes, stores, airports and factories.
But Internet will never have the impact on civilization that the invention of the written word has had. The book – this little thing, cheap, portable, unbreaking, endlessly reusable has the greatest effect on the world.
4. Reading the text The Internet. Ex 1 p 153.
• Listen to the text.
• Read yourselves.
• Are there any unknown words there?
5. Answer the questions.
• What is the Internet? (The Internet is a huge network of computers.)
• When did public Internet appear? (… in the late 70’s)
• In what way can the Internet be useful to everyone? (Everyone should have the Internet as a means of communication, can get database of knowledge from the Internet, can send and receive e - mail. )
• What can you say about the advantages of the e - mail? (This service is cheaper than ordinary mail an much quicker.)
• What search programmes do you know? Which ones do you use? (We can use different search programmes such as the google s. p, ramble s. p, yandex s. p or yahoo search programme.)
