The theme of the lesson: Animals are in danger

The aim of the lesson: to develop communicative skills and abilities through different communicative activities, to widen pupil’s knowledge about animal’s world, to speak about animals, to create an interest in study English
The type of the lesson: demonstrative revision lesson
Visual aids: an interactive board, the basic textbook, poster, pictures, markers

The procedure of the lesson:

I. Organization moment!
- Good afternoon pupils!
- Sit down, please
- Who is on duty today?
- Is anybody absent today?
- Well, let’s speak a little about the weather.
- What season is it now?
- What month is it now?
- Do you like winter and why?
- What is the weather like today?
- Good, you are right

II. Check up the pupils home - work
- What was your home work?
- Are you ready for the lesson?
- Who wants to answer?
- Raise your hand please
(P1 - P2 - P3 answer)

III. Brainstorming
a) Do you like animals?
b) What kind of animals do you know?
c) Have you got any domestic animal at home?
d) What kind of wild animals do you know?
e) What domestic animals do you know?

IV. New lesson
- Well, Let’s begin our new lesson. Today we’ll have a new theme. The theme of our lesson is “Animals are in danger”. Animals are all around us. But nowadays animals are in danger, because people collect animals as pets, and hunt them for food and for fun. Today we speak about elephants, tigers and rhinos.
So, let’s divide the class into three groups. Come here and choose one picture of an animal which you like. Pupils which choose wild animals are the first group, pupils which choose domestic animals are the second group and pupils which choose tropical animals are the third group.

- Look at our planet. It looks upset. Can you guess why?
P - It has got problems
T - What problems of environment do you know?
P - pollution, litter, animals and plants become extinct
T - Good, you are right. Let’s help our planet

V. Solving the riddles
Before beginning of the lesson I’ll give you some questions. You must find what animals are they.
1. It is big. It has got big ears and it lives in Africa and in India. What animal is it?
2. It is brown and yellow. It has got sharp teeth. What animal is it?
3. It lives near the people. It gives milk and meat. What animal is it?
4. It helps for policeman. It is friend of people. What animal is it?

Now, pupils look at the blackboard. We take some new words from the text
- Listen to me then repeat after me

Hunt [hʌnt] аң аулау
Hunter [hʌntә] аңшы
Ivory tusk [aivәri tʌsk] пілдің тісі
Appear [ә’piә] пайда болу, көзге көріну
Disappear [disә’piә] жоғалу

- T - repeat after me all together

VI. Reading the text “Do you know that ….” and translating it.

Do you know that...
There were 300 species of elephants everywhere, today you can find them in Africa and India. Especially Asian and Indian elephants are in danger. Hunters have been killing elephants for meat, for their ivory tusks for a long time.
Today many elephants in Africa are dying because they do not have enough food to eat and space to live. Today only I million ELEPHANTS live on the planet. Some day they may disappear.
Before the war time tigers had enough space to live. Today TROPICAL forests became less and less. People have been hunting tigers since the war. They may disappear, too.
People hunt the blue whale for meat, fat and oil.
Thirty years ago there were 100. 000, rhinos in Africa. Today there are probably less than 4, 000.|ln Kenya, Zambia and rhino horn is a fortune.
(pupils read the text and translate it)
VI. Work with the groups
- Well I’ll give you some tasks and you must do these tasks

Task1
1. What can you say about domestic animals.
2. What should you do to protect the animals? Write two sentences

3. Write these sentences in The Present Simple Tense

We (to play ) tennis every day
They (to watch) TV every evening

Task 2
1. What do you know about wild animals?
2. Write riddles about wild animals
3. Write these sentences in the negative and interrogative form?
She plays, we play football every day, I speak three languages, he goes to school by bus.

Task 3
1. Say about life in the desert and in the tropical forest
2. Make up dialogue on the theme ‘Going to the Zoo’
3. Write these sentences in the negative and interrogative form.
I have been to London. We have seen the animals at the Zoo.
He has just come. You have finished it.

So, I’ll give you 10 minutes to prepare your poster.

- Doing physical gymnastics
- Pupils, are you tired? Let’s relax and do a very plain gymnastics for our necks.

- Which of them live in Kazakhstan?
- Did you see these animals at the Zoo?
