The theme: Twentieth – century heroes

Aim of the lesson: • To enrich students’ knowledge about heroes. To consolidate pupils understanding of the functions and usage of the past simple. To introduce and practice vocabulary. To enrich the topical vocabulary. To develop logical and critical thinking and creation.

Waiting result At the end of the lesson pupils will be able to:
• Pupils know about a famous people.
• They can understand of the function and usage of the past simple.
• They can use new words in their speech.
Active forms of work: Dialogue, group work, pair – talk, thin and thick questions strategy, jigsaw reading strategy, knowledge pyramyd, conversation including problematic questions.

Resources: Interactive board, pictures, A3 sheets, markers

As you know, our life is impossible without water and light, but it is impossible to live without knowledge and arts too.

Checking up the homework. Put the verbs into the simple past:

Questions
Answer the question about details of famous people
1. Where was Charli Chaplin from?
2. Who was Marie Curie?
3. What nationality were the Wright brothers?

Now say the questions for these answers

2. Picasso was born in Malaga in 1881
3. Shakespeare was English

Read the dialogue and translate.
