Theme: The cake
The aim: Presentation of the adverbs of manner and vocabulary;
Developing of the students’ reading and writing skills;
Enlarge their memories and enable them talking about things they do.
Visual aids: Hot Spot student’s and activity book; interactive board; cards.

I. Greeting.
Good afternoon!
Who’ on duty today?
What day is it?
What date is it?
Who’ absent?
Warm up.
Speaking about weather.

II. Phonetic drill.
I thought a thought
But the thought I thought wasn't the thought I thought I thought.
If the thought I thought I thought had been the thought I thought,
I wouldn't have thought so much.

III. Checking up home task.
Your home task was revision of the vocabulary and grammar.
Firstly I say the definitions of the word and you must say it.
1. Not harmful or dangerous to the environment
2. A very bad storm with strong winds
3. From the place near you
4. An increase in the earth’s temperature
You have been given cards and you must say the translation of the word lists.

IV. Presentation.
Vocabulary:
cake [keik ] - торт
crumb [krλm] - кішкентай бөлік, ұсақ
gateau [gætəu] - пирог
greedy [gri: di] - қызғаншақ, ашкөз
guilty [gilti] - кінәлі, айыпты
plate [pleit] - тарелка
strawberry [stro: bəri] - құлпынай
proud [praud] - мақтаныш
shy [ςai] - ұялшақ
sigh [ sai] - күрсіну
slice [slais]- бөлік
suspiciously [səspiςəsli]- сенбестік
well [wel] - жақсы
Grammar.
Adverbs of manner
We use adverbs of manner to describe how something happens.
He’s walking slowly.
They are playing well.
She’s speaking quietly.
We form most adverbs by adding – ly to the adjective.
slow --- slowly
Words ending in a consonant +y drop the – y and add – ily
happy ---- happily
Words ending in – le change the – le to - ly.
horrible --- horribly
Note the adverb of good is well.
She’s a good student. ----- She studies well.
We use words as both adjectives and adverbs.
I’m a fast runner. ----- I run fast.
He’s a hard worker. ----- He works hard.

* Adjectives ---- describe the noun.
* Adverbs ---- describe the verb.

VI. Reading.
a. Listen and read. Why didn’t Tom eat two slice of cake in the afternoon?
b. Comprehension check. Choose the correct phrase to make true sentences.
1. Tom’s mother likes eating cakes | making cakes.
2. Tom wanted | didn’t want a second slice of cake.
3. Tom’s father wanted | didn’t want to save the cake for tomorrow.
4. Tom and his father had their second slice of cake that night | the next day.
