The theme: Sporting life
The aim of the lesson:
1. Educational: to master new lexis and its use in speech; to enrich students’ knowledge on the theme.
2. Developing: to develop students’ skills and habits in dialogues, poems, role play; to develop the students’ listening and speaking.
3. Bringing up: to educate the feeling of love to sport.
Method of the lesson: self - searching, interaction.
Equipment: interactive board, table cards.
The procedure of the lesson:
1. Introduction page.
T: Hello everybody! I’m glad to see you healthy and beautiful here. I hope that our guests will be interested in the subject of our today’s discussion, which is “Sporting life”.
Before beginning the lesson, let’s check the absentees.
(Talk between the teacher and the duty).
2. Checking the home task:
T: At our previous lesson we spoke about first aid, its procedures. We discussed some texts. We knew more about first aid treatment in any case and even at sport. I’m sure it will help you in your future life.
Your home work was Ex. 14, p. 116 - 117. Who is ready?
(Students read their tasks and check each other).
3. Warm up.
T: The poem for little children says:
Sport is fun for boys and girls.
It’s much better than the toys.
You can sledge, and ski, and skate,
And play snowballs with Kate.
You can swim and play football,
Hockey, tennis, basketball.
You can jump and you can run.
You can have a lot of fun!
4. Pre - reading task.
T: What do you know about sport in the UK? Let’s do the quiz in your copybooks.
Ex. 2 b, p. 120.
Now students, change the copybooks with your partners and while listening to the short text about sport in the UK check the answers.
Match the names of sports with equipment and the places.

5. New theme: The text “Sport at school”.
T: I suggest you understand the meaning of the text. Then let’s work with our textbooks. You should find the names of popular team games of British schools with their descriptions. Ex. 4, p. 121.
6. New words:
Do you think all of the following can be forms of sport? If not, what are they? Golf is a precision club and ball sport in which competing players (or golfers) use many types of clubs to hit balls into a series of holes on a course using the fewest number of strokes.
Ice dancing is a discipline of figure skating which draws from the world of ballroom dancing.
Aerobics is a form of physical exercise that combines rhythmic aerobic exercise with stretching and strength training routines with the goal of improving all elements of fitness.
Caving is the recreational pastime of exploring wild cave systems.
Jogging is a form of trotting or running at a slow or leisurely pace. The main intention is to increase physical fitness with less stress on the body than from faster running, or to maintain a steady speed for longer periods of time.
Mountaineering or mountain climbing is the sport, hobby or profession of hiking, skiing, and climbing mountains.
Synchronized swimming is a hybrid form of swimming, dance and gymnastics, consisting of swimmers performing a synchronized routine of elaborate moves in the water, accompanied by music.
Gliding is a recreational activity and competitive air sport in which pilots fly unpowered aircraft known as gliders or sailplanes using naturally occurring currents of rising air in the atmosphere to remain airborne.
Fox hunting is an activity involving the tracking, chase, and sometimes killing of a fox.
T: So we name some sport games. Call popular sport games in Kazakhstan and in GB. (Pupils write them on the blackboard).

7. Group work:
T: You were divided into four groups. Read the conversation.
Discuss about what kind of game are they speaking. How can you guess?
8. Conclusion:
