- Good afternoon, dear guests and students! I’m glad to see all of you today. Lets start our party. Today we’ll talk about space, planets, stars and about our lovely town Baikonur.
P1 - Today we are going to speak about space and the history of space exploration.

- Do you know how many planets are there in our solar system?

P1 - Call the names of the planets
- they are Mercury, Neptune, Earth, Saturn, Mars, Venus, Uranus, Jupiter and the Sun.
- Astronomers had been exploring the universe long before the beginning of space flights. Galileo made the first optical telescope used for astronomy in 1609.
P2 - I read scientists got a lot more information about the solar system and its planets with help of interplanetary probes, space capsules that carry special equipment and send information back to Earth.

- For thousands of years man dreamed of flying to the stars. At the beginning of the century the great Russian scientist Tsiolkovsky predicated that mankind will not remain on Earth forever. Then the most remarkable event in the history of cosmonautics took place. On April 12 1961 the spaceship “Vostok” piloted by Yuri Gagarin went up. Mankind will remember him.

Oh, yes, A new era of man’s exploration of outer space began. Many space rockets went up by our cosmonauts. Today Russia wants the explorations of space to be based on broad international cooperation. Many international crews went up in space. This is the best example of the possibility of space cooperation. We can speak about the space explorations very much it is immense theme.
- Now, let’s speak about our lovely town Baikonur.
- Baikonur is a young town. It was built in 1955. The first settlers were military people. They lived under very difficult conditions: severe climate, tents instead of houses and bad water.
- But in spite of all these hardships the first in the world artificial sputnik, the first man from the Earth Yuri Gagarin and other astronauts were launched into space from this land.
- Nowadays the Cosmodrome of Baiconur is the unique scientific, technical and social complex. There are a lot of research space centers, rocket and space enterprises.
