The theme of the lesson: Days of the week (Апта күндері)
The aims of the lesson:
1. Educational: to teach pupils how to make up sentences in Present simple and speak about their everyday habits;
2. Developing: to develop pupils’ pronunciation skills and critical thinking;
3. Upbringing: to bring up pupils to be attentive and follow the classroom rules;
Methods of teaching: matching, explanation, demonstration, presentation, critical thinking, games.
Inter - curricular link: Kazakh, Russian and every day life.
Visual aids: posters, pictures, smiles, flashcards, interactive board, CD disks and CD player, Power Point presentation, etc.
The procedure of the lesson:
I. Organization moment (4 min.)
- Good afternoon, dear pupils! How are you?
- Good afternoon, dear teacher! We are fine, thank you! And you?
- Me too. I hope that you are ready to start our lesson. Now let’s look at the slide, read and say the action rhyme together.
M is for Monday, turn around
T is for Tuesday touch the ground
W is for Wednesday, jump so high
T is for Thursday, touch the sky
F for Friday, say hooray
S for Saturday, time to play
S for Sunday clap your hands
It is time to start our lesson.
- Can you name our heroes in these pictures?
- Yes!
- Ademy! Bobby and Ted!
- As you’ve noticed you have balloons on your desks. Who has pink balloons are in Ademy’s group. Who has blue balloons are in Bobby’s group. Who has yellow balloons are in Ted’s group. I’ll give smiles to the leaders of the group and the leaders will be giving the smiles to each correct answer of the members of the group. At the end of the lesson we’ll count your smiles and according to the number of your smiles you’ll be evaluated. So we are divided into three groups. I wish you good luck in everything and let’s start our lesson.
II. Checking homework (8 min.)
- Dear pupils! Look at the slide. There are given the words in codes. You should find the words. Each letter is hidden under the number. If you now the order of the English Alphabet it won’t be difficult for you. You’ve got 2 minutes.
- You’ve done a great job! You are so clever!
- And now in groups match the sentences and days of the week according to Ted’s activities for every day. (3 min)
Ted does sports on Monday.
Ted eats fish on Tuesday.
Ted drinks tea on Wednesday.
Ted feeds the birds on Thursday.
Ted plants trees on Friday.
Ted reads books on Saturday.
Ted plays chess on Sunday.
- Well done! I can see that you know all Ted’s habits. All of you could match the sentences correctly. Today we are going to continue this very topic and learn how to speak about our habits on each day of the week.
III. Presentation of the new theme.
1). Phonetic drill - the letter O and the sound [əu] (3 min.)

2) Introducing the new words (5 min.)

- Read the word and write in your copybooks for vocabulary.
- Look at the pictures in the slide and name them.
3) Introducing the new grammar material. (4 min.)
Pupils listen to the dialogue and understand. They answer the question “What does Bobby do on Friday?”

In order to help him you should make up sentences with the given verb phrases and tell in which day of the week you do it. Each part of the picture has one verb phrase that you have learn at today’s lesson and last lessons.
